Buying milk from farm?

i live in upstate NY, i don't know any farmers out here, but i wanna know if i can just go to the farmer and buy a fresh milk straight from the cow? no additives or preservatives! when i was a kid i use to get it from the farmers and drink steamed milk, it tasted lot different than store milk.
