Do u know of anyone who survived Pullmonary Fibrosis?

My mom has been having this horrible cough it won't go away!!! I brought her to the hospital and they admitted her and a lung specialist came in to see her. He has told us that they need to do further testing but he can hear a crackling noise in her lung. My mom is 78 and I don't want to lose her, I hope to God he's wrong. I need some answers about this disease and what to expect. Can someone please help?
