My 1986 merceds 500 sel has the heat stuck on. How do I disconnect the heater ?

The heat still comes out the top as if the defrost is stuck on. The fan still works. The heat still comes out even with the a/c on. Cool air comes out the center vents, and hot air comes out the top dashboard. Any help would be appreciated ! Its hot enough outside !
