Calling all inner city and suburban teachers....?
I teach in a suburban school where we had 100% AYP last year, but our neighboring school (which is urban) is doing poorly and sending all of their students to us. Students from the home district tend to have parental involvement, though sometimes I don't see it to the benefit of their grades. I rarely see the out-of-district parents. Our school is pretty and clean, and we get lots of funding from grants. I have more textbooks/workbooks than I know what to do with. Student attitude can be cruddy, but I think that's a middle school thing -- most say they want to go to college. Their parents mostly went to college. We do have 29-34 kids per cl in our school, though.
