Is it TRUE that SARS epidemic was started because CHINA eats ANYTHING EXOTIC & RARE??

I heard that because China will eat anything that slithers, crawls, flies & climbs nomatter how rare and endangered...this is why the SARS pandemic started. Is this TRUE? Do they still eat like this?? If so, do they not care at all about anything being extinct?
