Burnout paradise city help!?

Hi, I need to know from someone who "HAS" the addon before i buy the addon that lets you play offline with up to 8 players. Can you just free roam with your buddies offline or just challenges? If you can only do challenges thats extremely gay and a waste of my money, this is why I am asking =).
