Does anyone know how to fix a QuickSilver G4 Apple computer that will not start up right?

The computer turns on , then chimes and then apple and spinner appear. After 5 or ten minutes it turns on. Then a black/grey box appears and the screen darkens. It says to restart the computer. The pointer is frozen. I started up with hardware test CD and every thing checked out ok. What should I do?
